∞ PRIVACY POLICY

What we collect, what we do with it, and your rights.

Plain-language privacy policy explaining exactly what data this site collects, how we use it, and how you can access, correct, or delete it. We collect the minimum information necessary to run the site and never share or sell personal data.

Last updated: April 27, 2026

Information we collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the site. Specifically:

  • Email address — only when you subscribe to our newsletter or use the contact form
  • Name — only when you submit a contact form (optional)
  • Message content — what you type in our contact form
  • Anonymous analytics data — pages visited, time on site, geographic region (country/state level), device type, referring source. We do not collect IP addresses or any individual identifiers.

We do not collect financial information. The site has no payment processing.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Send you the newsletter you subscribed to
  • Reply to messages you send via the contact form
  • Understand which articles are most useful so we can prioritize similar topics
  • Identify and fix technical issues

We do not use your information for advertising, profile-building, or any purpose unrelated to running this site.

Cookies and analytics

We use the following cookies and analytics tools:

  • Google Analytics 4 (anonymized): Tracks anonymous, aggregated usage data. IP addresses are anonymized at collection. We have disabled all advertising features.
  • WordPress session cookies: Used only when you fill in a contact form, to remember your form data if you reload the page. These expire after 24 hours.
  • Cloudflare cookies: Used by our CDN to identify and block malicious traffic. These are essential cookies and cannot be disabled without breaking the site.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the official Google opt-out browser add-on.

Newsletter subscriptions

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address in our newsletter system to send you weekly emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every newsletter, or by emailing [email protected].

We do not share newsletter subscriber lists with anyone, ever.

Comments and form submissions

Comments are disabled site-wide. If you submit a contact form, we receive your name, email, and message. We use this information only to reply to you. We do not store form submissions beyond 90 days.

How we share data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties — period. The only exceptions:

  • Service providers we use to run the site: Our hosting provider, our newsletter delivery system, and Google Analytics. These providers are contractually limited to processing data only on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Legal compliance: If we receive a valid court order or law enforcement request, we comply with applicable law. We will notify you if we are legally permitted to do so.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate information
  • Delete your information from our systems
  • Export your information in a machine-readable format
  • Object to specific uses of your information
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.

For California residents: Under the CCPA, you have additional rights including the right to know what personal information we have collected and the right to opt-out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell data, so this right does not change anything).

For EU/UK residents: Under GDPR, you have the rights listed above plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for parents of autistic children — adult readers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has submitted information through the site, please email us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption sitewide, secure WordPress hosting, regular security updates, and limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store financial data and we minimize the personal information we collect to limit the impact of any potential breach.

Changes to this policy

If we change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. For substantial changes, we will email all newsletter subscribers at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
